    • I don't know where you live but I don't see a lot of value in concierge doctors, who are just glorified PCP's. I live in the Boston area, on Medicare, and I am always seen the same day or next day by my PCP or specialist. My brother in law has a concierge and the only difference I see is fancier graphics on the lab reports. What are "non typical" health problems??

    • I thought I was the only one on earth who never has had a manicure or pedicure! Or a facial . I only shop when absolutely necessary and when I do I buy clothes online. They are on the high end side but I get over 10 or more years of frequent wear. Never buy anything that must be dry cleaned and buy things that aren't trendy . I must be doing something right because I get compliments from strangers on 20 year old sweaters.

    • Having been both a stay at home mother and a working mother, I never felt stuck at home all day during the years I was at home . In addition to volunteering at school, coaching teams , there are other ways to use one's professional training and education . You can, for example, serve as chair of the town finance committee , chair of library trustees, building committee etc. And once you decide to go back to work , you've gained a larger network. You are absolutely right that women need to protect themselves and I see among my some of my married friends that they have no knowledge of money at all and worse , they don't even want to know. My own case is different , as I have an MBA , and my husband and I have always operated as a team, as our parents also did.

    • Not the same as what the author describes. Rails to Trails converts abandoned railroad right of ways to usable walking/biking trails.

    • In New England the public has some rights to walk on private beaches (generally below low tide line but there are various other rules depending on the state). As far as walking on other private lands in New England, unless the landowner has agreed, you are trespassing . The beach laws go back to Colonial times and are controversial. A family member was so tired of people passing through his land to get to allowed walking areas that he sold off most of his Cape Cod property.

    • What an amazing , inspiring story. I would imagine that as a police officer you learned a lot about people and that has contributed to you becoming an extraordinary physician .

    • Excellent article. I am an accumulator and my husband an avoider (he says because his parents fought about money when he was young ). Fortunately we have never fought about money and our two styles have blended well.

    • Cars last longer than they used to , and Mercedes has always had a long lifespan . You don't need to replace a 9 year old car, but if you want to, go ahead !
