Do you actually believe that our high school teachers could even explain finances to their students? When I took a college finance course taught by a stockbroker, he said that to compare taxable bond yield to a tax-exempt bond yield, you just double the coupon of the tax-exempt bond yield. Yikes.

I just find the Vanguard website more cumbersome to use than Schwab. I have an email advisor assigned to me by Schwab and he has been very helpful and responds quickly when asked a question. He doesn't push any advisory services, just lets me know his department is ready and willing to help with whatever I need.
My wife has been going through hell with her mother. She is 96 and left a very good assisted living facility to return to her own home. She is now so weak and refuses to leave her home. I told my wife when I can't take care of myself without her help, put me in a home. I don't want her to go through with me what she is going through with her mother and what her father put everyone through before he died..
Our Costco in the KC area is always cheaper than gasoline stations near us. I don't know about Sams since I'm not a member there. Also, with Costco's credit card, the rewards on Costco gas are 5%. Hard to beat.
My wife and I just established a revocable trust to avoid probate when we die. Unbeknownst to us, our umbrella policy with our insurance company (Amica) does not cover the house in a trust. Cars, yes. Not the house. So, now we have to consider changing our house/car insurance. Beware.
Why don't you take it in kind and pay the taxes on the RMD amount from other sources? I always take my RMD in kind. If you like the funds, this allows you to keep them without selling any shares.
