Converting large amount now to Roth with a large T-IRA account makes lots of sense if the money stays in Roth for a long period of time like 20-30 years. Stay healthy and live longer!
Agree 100%! The best part of a traditional Medicare with a supplemental insurance is: you don't need the prior authorization from insurance company when you need medical care such as surgeries, testing, rehab etc. and you have nationwide access to the providers who accepting Medicare. Your health care needs are not dictated by the insurance company.
I have been almost 100% in stocks (VTSAX) 27 years and am in my mid 60s. I keep about 5 years in cash position--mostly in T-bills and some in checking account. It has been working well over the years. You need to have high risk tolerance and stay the course when market's not doing well. I will continue this way through my life.

Medicare+Medigap plan---you've got the BEST coverage even though the premiums are relatively high.
