Munger and Buffett, Lennon-Mc Cartney, etc.

Whether in marriage, music, business, etc., it seems as though an astute , hard working and loyal partner, or in many cases, partners, thousands of versions and the like. will enhance the marriage, boost record sales and popularity, and make virtually any business better and more profitable.

Buffett said the late Charlie Munger was the architect of Berkshire, and the” abdominal no man”, while Warren Buffet was mostly in charge of executing the decisions , and so forth.  They never argued, even when Munger would “nay”, some plans of Buffett’s.

They would share their ideas and having two heads instead of one, I would guess, added a lot of value to the company.

Lennon and Mc Cartney were the two most successful song writers in history, and each would share ideas , as a result,  dozens of songs were improved by the input of both. Also, each wanted to outdo the other, and they strived to compete with each other. Paul and John needed the other far more than they would ever care to admit.

The proof is that ,with only a few exceptions,  nothing either did as solo artists ,or with The Plastic Ono Band or Wings, was competative to The Beatles music. ” Maybe I’m Amazed”, “Imagine ” , were as good, but they are few are far between.

On many songs, like probably their greatest song, ” A Day In The Life,” one guy, in this case Lennon, wrote and sang the main parts, while the other wrote and sang the ” Middle Eight.” ”  Lennon sang, ” I read the news today ,oh boy..” and Paul sang, ” Woke up, fell out of bed…”, and that collaboration enhances the song so much.

On,” I’ve got a feeling,’, it was the opposite, Paul sang ” I’ve got a feeling, a feeling deep inside…”, and John, ” Everybody had a hard year,..”.

After The Beatles broke up, and no, it was not Yoko’s doing, Paul made several solo albums. He played all of the instruments, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, percussion, as well as lead and backing vocals. Sometimes his late wife Linda would do some backing vocals and keyboards, but it was mainly Paul.

The Beatles also had a pretty fair lead guitar player, songwriter and singer, George Harrison. He added even more competition, and his songs are some of the Beatles best, including, ” Something” and “Here Comes The Sun.” Ringo was the perfect drummer for that group, not flashy, but a fine drummer. And the late Quincy Jones is entitled to his opinion, but, The Beatles were not ” The worst musicians, ever.”

The sky high-talent level of the ” Four Lads From Liverpool”, will never be approached, in my view. Their song, ” Yesterday”, is the most covered song in history, etc.

Harley-Davidson, Simon and Garfunkel, Abbott and Costello, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, and the husband and wife transplant surgeons whom purchased a house from a relative of my wife.  It is a” tear down”, in their words, a brick front home built in 1960, beautiful ocean front on Narragansett Bay in Bristol, R.I. They paid a cool 2 million cash a couple of years prior.

In remains empty, as they are too busy to oversee the demolition and rebuild and so forth. They reside in Denver, they are wonderful people, and both of them work very hard to earn a lot of money. I suppose if only one of them was a doctor, they might have to tone down the plans a bit. Do their own pool maintenance, etc.

I am aware that this is not a music site, but, please allow me to give more kudos to the Beatles. How about a band that had 4 lead men, and wrote and performed songs that were so vastly different and original. They had hard rock, Helter-Skelter, ballads like Hey Jude and Let It Be. Children’s songs, Yellow Submarine, and All Together Now.

I Am The Walrus, to Yesterday and Blackbird. Julia, Michelle and Lovely Rita. Songs about circus performers, Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite. A bit of country, What Goes On , Honey Don’t. ( Carl Perkins wrote that one though)

So who is Taylor Swift’s wingman haha ? You have to admit that’s a lot of talent in one person. But to me her songs all sound the same. “You Belong with Me,” “Love Story,” “Shake it Off” great defining songs, the rest meh IMO.
The Beatles? Agree absolutely the best of hundreds of bands and single performers. So much variety. Lately I’ve been obsessed with “I Am the Walrus.” You’ve been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down.
But even the Beatles didn’t by any means dominate the era. We just returned from the Malt Shop Memories Cruise and heard fantastic performances from The DooWop Project, Platters, Coasters, Drifters, Four Tops, Darlene Love, Beach Boys, Rascals, Chubby Checked, wow !!!

Music lover here. Favorite Beatles song—“Here, There and Everywhere “. I read somewhere it was Paul McCartney’s too.
George Benson also recorded a beautiful version; he both sang and then gave an instrumental version on guitar. Music is magic.

As a 9 year old child, I still remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I also like listening to reproductions of their music by symphonies.

Think you miss giving credit to George Martin who was a tremendous part of how their sound evolved. Tomorrow Never Knows, Revolution 9, Strawberry Fields et Al..
