My cancer returned for the 3rd time and things looked rough. I immediately started SS at 64 yo even thought this had never been the plan. I was offered disability SS as well since I was/am stage 4 and will remain so. It felt self defeating to accept such a thing. I declined. I also believe each application to disability SS should be evaluated carefully.
We did not provide any extra money to our 3 children for college beyond T, R & B. Each was required to have a summer job to pay for books etc... None of them complained. Once graduated, we co-signed a loan for a new car and gave them $5,000 down on that purchase.
I am baffled by the inaccuracy here with regards to his starvation prediction. He was absolutely correct. 9-11 million people die annually from starvation. Meanwhile, we all worry and chat about the millions we have in our retirement accounts.
