Having a degree is conducive to becoming a high earner. The degree is a proof of your competency in the subject matter. In an environment where all your competitors hold degrees or/and decades of experience, you will have an inherent disadvantage without one(lowering your human capital). Blue collar jobs can offer the same pay(the lower ranges of a well paying white collar job), but the work is chock full of danger with gruelling work hours. College students will just have to take the plunge into debt if they wish to be in the 1%.
The markets are a reflection of life, ever changing and unstoppable. 10 years ago everyone would have looked at you funny if you mentioned that companies will be able to harvest every aspect of your identity. Nowadays it’s agreed upon that billions of identities are laid bare to algorithms attempting(successfully even) to separate us from our cash efficiently. Within our lifetimes it’s all too common to have revolutions that flip our understanding of the world on its head.
Johnathan, I’ve only recently discovered this site after I did some financial soul searching from my idiotic gambling in the stock market. The articles here have greatly helped me to refocus towards a path forward. My condolences for the awful, awful hand you have been dealt. Praying for great vacations ahead 🙏
