    • Yes, $47K is outrageous - more than our first house. But we were glad to get the vehicle, even at that price. If you did not see it, you might want to skim my HD article from a month ago that tells what we went through to get it. https://humbledollar.com/2023/03/driving-me-crazy/

    • GREAT suggestion. Thank you. I did not know such a group existed.

    • Doug and others, I appreciate the comments telling me I don't have to push the button on the key fob to lock or unlock the doors. Being more of a 20th century person, I assumed I did. Thanks for all of the great information.

    • Donna, thank you - for your comment and explanation! I will try this. The owners' manual, hundreds of pages long, probably tells me this.

    • Correct. That is exactly my thinking.

    • Rick, my wife had her first knee replacement surgery just over two weeks ago. Interestingly, she is not going to physical therapy. They gave her a list of exercises to do 4x per day. The surgeon said it will be clear at her two-week check-up, based on her range of motion, if she has been doing them. If she has not been doing them, he would assign PT. We just got back from her two-week check-up. Everything is fine. Continue the exercises. No PT.

    • I have used this exact method previously (pre-pandemic). I was amazed how much of a discount off of MSRP I was able to get.

    • Another step for avoiding a heart attack - Don't have Dennis Friedman as a friend. For some reason yet unknown to science, it appears that having Dennis as a close friend greatly increases your chance of heart disease. (Just kidding. Great article and great advice.)

    • Apparently like you, I have "over-saved." Frugality has become a habit. While I suppose my wife and I could spend our accumulated savings/wealth during our remaining years, we won't. Do I regret that? Not one bit. I would much rather spend my final years having money and not needing it, than needing money and not having it.

    • A person can start QCDs at age 70-1/2. RMDs don't start until age 72 or 73. I plan to start QCDs when I reach 70-1/2. Any money given away as a QCD reduces my IRA balance and therefore reduces subsequent RMDs. I hope to never take an RMD. Start QCDs at 70-1/2. When I reach age 73, make sure my QCDs for each year exceed my RMD. I am in the fortunate position that I don't need the money in my traditional IRA - for living or for inheritance purposes.
