These are all fantastic suggestions but what you choose to do have to be what you love to do. I retired from a job I loved at 60. People asked me what I do all day. My response is don’t retire anytime soon if you have to ask that question. They would ask the same question to my brother and he would respond “you do not know Gary if you ask that.” If you don’t have things you love while working trying to find things you love after retiring can be more stressful then working. Retirement needs to be about things you are passionate about not someone else's passion no matter how good a cause they are.
The absolute number one killer of retirement savings for the medical and dental profession is divorce and the fact that they love their toys. My close friend, a specialist, didn’t believe me so he tried it twice.
Very perceptive. I was wondering if someone would comment. Grand father when came to US they said what is your name he said Chelli they heard Kelly. He said that works and so we are 100% Italian with Irish name. Gary
Corrupts comment Klein and Kelly…good Italian boys. I was wondering if someone would pick up on that. Grand fathers came from Italy and changed names. Mine was Chelli pronounced like Kelly so grand father said that works and that is what they put down when enter US. Gary Kelly aka Chelli.
Had to laugh. When I started colkege there were hundreds of pre dent and pre med students. When I was a senior there were about 10 of us. Decrease all due to Organic chemistry.
You loved your old mercedes and you will love your new one! You are not just buying things you hope will make you happy you know it will make you happy. Buy it today!
I graduated from Dental School without any debt which was a huge advantage to starting to save for house and retirement at a young age. I have been a big advocate for community college for two years then transferring to 4 year university in state. Starting with no debt not only started us on right track to save for future but it also helped us have a ball along the journey.
Great article. I have been wondering same thing. I do agree that you need to live each day and enjoy life. Buy first 10 years are critical to get started with your financial path. Debt right out of the shoot is a killer.
