This is such a thoughtful post. It really brings to light that there is not a one size fits all. Its a big decision and we make those decisions at the time with the information we have. What makes one person feel secure, might not be what makes the next person feel secure.
Hi Jen. As someone who has been on the operations side of CCAH programs for over a decade I wanted to pop in here to make you aware that there are about 6 programs across the commonwealth of PA. So, depending on where you live you have options! (yay) The website Home - My House. My Home. will give you great guidance as to where they are offered in PA and actually across the nation.
Any way we slice it care needs are expensive. Whether you go the traditional route and move into a CCRC, join a CCAH program or self-fund. The care is expensive. I think it comes down to where do you want to be as you age?
Thoughtful conversation around options. I read posts often re: LTC options and Im surprised I dont see many talking about Continuing Care at Home programs. The basic model is an upfront fee with ongoing monthly fees. In exchange you get coverage for care coordination services, access to services and coverage for cost of those services (giving you built in asset protection) all while supporting you to age in place. Not all states have programs but if you are in a state where a licensed program exists its worth looking into as a viable option. The website Home - My House.
