Godspeed, Jonathan! Elaine, I am deeply grateful for your support of this site and its philosophy, which greatly enhanced my financial journey. Be well!
I am a violinist from Germany, married to an American since 1997, and a music graduate student in 2001. School was cancelled that day - except for one rehearsal, and the professor directing the ensemble implored us to come to rehearsal regardless. I will never forget his moving address to point out that when the whole world seems under attack by extremists, the best we can do is to carry on - if we don't, the terrorists win. I've lived by this rule ever since and am deeply grateful for this teacher's strength!
I couldn't agree more - and if you want to be even more sure you won't have to throw out cranberry sauce from the fridge, buy frozen cranberries and use a smaller amount, leaving the rest frozen.
Thank you for reminding us of the two titans of the law and their willingness to build friendship despite differing opinions! Your post reminds me of the great honor of sharing a table with R.B.G. at a reception in D.C. about 8 years ago. I only wish I could have met Justice Scalia in person, as well, instead of just seeing the two sitting next to each other from my seat in the orchestra pit during an opera performance. What a fantastic role model they were!
Thank you for your steadfast defense of taxes and social security! Government services (both at the federal, state, and local level) are what keeps society running and are far to valuable to squander!

Yes, but in a winner-takes-all system, those that voted for the loserare not represented in the decision-making process.
