    • Death, be not proud Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die. By John Donne

    • We'll keep our 10 and 20 year old cars until they fall apart. This tax deduction seems like a favor for banks or whoever finances these loans which will paid for by other taxpayers. Eventually.

    • My mother-in-law (now deceased) used to send letters to companies when she purchased an inferior product. My wife has told me stories of "the company man" coming to their home with a replacement product and sincere apologies. Sadly, those days are gone, but I've followed in her footsteps mostly through the company website's comments section. I've even done it repeatedly with a well-known English muffin which was bought out by the largest bakery company in the U.S. The muffins are still not as good, but at least they're cheap or free with my coupons.

    • Thank you for bringing this up, Sundar. After seeing how mother and wife's aunt were mistreated in assisted living and a nursing home, respectively, my wife and I do not want to go into any LTC facility. Our funeral director told us "They're basically all the same, even the "luxury" facility my mother was in had people die from neglect. For those like us who have children who can't or won't take care of us, it looks like either expensive home care or a personal robot. ;)

    • There is an compulsion/illness that affects spending; hoarding. Some of the questions on this test (14,15, and 18) address that: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/tests/health/hoarding-test

    • My friend, the undertaker who is my age (68) says: "No one gets out alive". Thank you for sharing your odyssey with us, Robert. If you have time to read: "The Gift of Peace" by Joseph Cardinal Bernadin https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/12702/the-gift-of-peace-by-joseph-cardinal-besnardin/ I hope it helps you. Best wishes.

    • Maybe I'm nitpicking, but all the safety equipment in the world will not prevent all accidents. Within a week of purchasing a 2015 vehicle with EyeSight (automatic braking), a deer ran out in front of us. The vehicle may have stopped itself and we were not injured, but the damages were in the thousands and it took 3 months to repair because parts were unavailable.
