Jonathan, I need to let you know that a neighbor of ours has a mother in her late 70's who was diagnosed with lung cancer 8 years ago. They gave her about 1 year to live. However, she is still living and mobile and functional, 8 years later! Please bear that in mind in the challenges you are facing- I know you have plenty of inner strength and a great attitude. The doctors are obligated to give you the worst case scenario- but things may not be nearly that grim!

Jonathan, I have followed your work and advice for years and always benefited. I consider you (as so many others do) as a truly great man in your field and a quality man in every way. Thank you so much for all of your help and contributions to so many. It is a privilege to know you and follow your writings. My family and I will be praying for the best for you and yours. Dave

Steve, we really appreciate your sharing this unusual situation with us. While your son is taking an unconventional course, you know that, and he may be one of the rare people who can make a good living this way. Kudos to you for recognizing this while also being realistic, and still be loving and supportive! Please keep us all up to speed on this!

Great to see you grasping and enjoying life fully, Jim! This includes you embracing love with a great lady, clearly! I retired at almost 67 but work on a bank board, which really helps me feel useful. You are making a great choice and I hope you will stay in touch and keep us fully updated!

This is great stuff, Kristine- thank you SO MUCH for sharing! I now feel less strange for enjoying the quiet pleasure of my new retirement. I had a very stressful job and career for decades- I now love to work out, read, look after our finances, and watch quality shows. Nice to hear that there are others who like this life!

Jeff, thanks for the great article! And you look very fit- I am a gym rat too. Maybe a good contribution to comment on your fitness program in a future article? Just a thought! Best regards, DH

Dick, Your memo is a great reminder to us to live in gratitude! Like you, I remember truly hard times, and came up the hard way. Your words help me (and hopefully a lot of us) to remember to be grateful! Thanks again.

Patrick, Just my two cents, but I think you have calculated this just right. I am in a similar situation but am waiting but only because my variables are different. If I were in your situation, I would take the earlier pay-out! Have a great retirement, my friend!
