    • Wonderful insights and thanks you so much for sharing your very personal insights. I was just having the 'no regrets' in life conversation with my wife the other day and my thoughts were very similar to yours. Research has shown that regrets in life are more focused on things of omission (ie., things you wish you did but didn't) vs commission (things you did but regret). Best wishes and so glad to hear that you can look back on a life lived with no regrets.

    • Excellent article. No. 8 is so true. Retirment is so much about having control of your time and being able to do things you enjoy without time constrants, not to mention being able to travel during shoulder seasons! Agree that money doesn't buy happiness but for me it sure gives me peace of mind. Another one that is becoming outdated is that a four year college degree is worth the financial investment. There are more viable options now for achieving career success without obtaining a traditional 4 year college degree.

    • Amen Kristine. I'm with you there. Enjoying the simple things in life, having a basic daily routine, and living the quite life makes for a very content retirement.

    • I hear you. Fortunately being humble (and introverted) worked out OK for me in my profession and I managed to do quite well. Not to say that it wasn't always easy dealing at times with self-doubt. Fortunately, any feelings of self doubt were more motivating that paralyzing. Interestingly now that I am retired and financially secure, I still have recurring dreams of losing my job or not getting hired for a job and being out financially. Just the way I am wired.

    • As a cyclist, you might want to try doing some bike tours. There are plenty of tour outfits that have multi-days tours around the globe. They will transport all you stuff or if a bit more adventurous you can try a self supported tour. In the Northeast US there are lots of rails to trails routes where you can tour pretty much car free.
