I’d be able to relieve J.Clements of his current major health concern. 7/23/24. Imagine the economic upheaval in healthcare if cancer was no longer a concern after 50 years. Makes me think, no doubt it makes you think also.

I'd been advised 'enjoy stock market returns as long as you can accept the risk', then buy 2 annuities splitting the risk of even their insolvency. We all remember A.I.G.

I must agree mar'jorie. The numbers do not support the claims. I'm considering a 15/20k ElonMusk semi-mobile homes supported by WWIIs intercontinental Hwy system. Some might give it some consideration. The back roads are both wonderous & delightful.

I agree. Yes with nearly everything. I was lucky with a number of health setbacks. (BW)BodyWeight exercise the last 50+ yrs kept me in decent condition. Several Dr.s have said I'd have not have rebounded time after time from injuries so well had I not been a fastidious BW exerciser. That my cheap private club. Yes, its members are a small % of the population. One of the longest was a Navy Barber, he's a decade older. New years day the Gyms fill up. By end of the first quarter only the regulars remain. My lifestyle can come across as spartan & harsh. I'd not want to live on a golf-course either Jim. You speak of PA's mountains. I met 2 married special needs teachers, both are 80+ now. The males still hunts winters, and fishes summers. He accredits his health with his lifestyle. You never know if the chutes going to open unless you need to pull the rip-cord.

I agree with your thinking on the Homefront Ken. I recall Westinghouse in the 50s and 60s before Google's reviews its agreed upon timeline. History is a powerful incentive, rewritten once again. Google displays a typical business lifecycle. A traditionally structured manufacturing operation was constructed, along with approximately 1sq. miles worth of support staffers housing across the street. With railroads access on its right side and water access to docks on the left side, if needed. There are numerous Mills, now Apt.complexes on that tributary now. You can see it on google maps. It's now called Westinghouse Plaza. Residential, Commercial, Playgrounds, Schooling. westinghouse readville mass I recall Westinghouse as a General Electric competitor. I'd heard it was aiming for gov. contracts initially. Starting with its support of its general publics products revenues. Like Sears catalogs and its Kenmore Products of that era. I agree with you Ken, being debt adverse, no matter how it's structured. I speculate many are additionally focused on revenues now then back then. I do recall an employee of westinghouse fruitlessly appealing to the shops stewart many yrs. after its bankruptcy. I'd known a couple of its staffers. Having dumped its debt, including pension modifications. sad.

I despise these devices sometimes. I just wrote an intensely researched reply yet more than likely the time it took me to do it, maybe 2hrs, its disappeared with a swipe. I do not doubt Apple will also some day. I've seen its stores with lines around the block, people buying up all they could and shipping it out. Little doubt. Not so much today, nearly 20 yrs later. As you say Bill, humans are either unnecessarily euphoric, remotely moving along, or bleakly in fear of tomorrows turns. This is not a swipe at Apple.co. I was first introduced to your book The Four Pillars of Investing, at Taylor Larimores suggestion, at a luncheon he had regularly in 03/09 as a regularity in that decade. I hope your well, your initial paragraph says recovering neurologist. I hope thats a play on articulations derivitives. I was once treated by a cutting edge Harvard neurologist fresh out of school at MGH. I'd anticipated cutting edge new age medical insights. I was advised a wheelchair and cane would be in my near future. Now some such 20yrs later I was lucky enough to only deal with such confines briefly. Health is paramount to all. Have you seen all the life's thats recently been uncovered beneath the planets poles in search of other incentives from Capt. Byrds quick exit in late 40s from N.Pole iirc to todays open minded E.Musk funded explorations. The human animal is a conundrum no question. My best to you on the updated edition of The Four Pillars of Investing second edition release. I hope alls well, no doubt in your position as an initial MDs neurologist position you'd have explored more health options as medical science has progressed.

I'd suggest, you know your auto. Newer autos are costly. Taxes, unknowns, declining quality, I myself, would not upgrade a 07/65k auto and if it was a Honda or Toyota I'd keep it till I, or it..fully expired. Auto's in junk yards data dictates they are there for motor/transmission failure issues primarily. An individual with the financial acumen of JBogle opened my eyes to the saying, it gets you from "point A, to point B, regularly & reliably right"? JMHO/ shrug / I'd keep it. Good luck.....

I appreciate all the input here. I also only buy w/a mantra of “if an item is brought into the home, an item from the home has to be removed. No exception”. Consider costs of iphone1-iphone14 in 20 years? They're small computers, not phones and costly. I now hear of a movement back to "dumb phones". Off my soapbox: Adding to the learned free educational info here on HD theres a Watchfreebiographyflix app.out also. Following notable lives from 1600s-to-today. It's seems in development, but works. As well as free MIT courses if anyones interested. Searching w/different browsers yields added intel. Todays molecular studies are very very interesting.

I'm surprised you were able to leave so readily during the policing action in S.E.Asia. I'm sure incentives were on the table for re-enlistment. Those 72' Plymouth Dusters were sporty, many are still fetching unreal prices by enthusiast. Good luck!
