I rather like your idea of adding more layers of spending over time. You don't have to go from a frugal saver to an enthusiastic spender overnight.

Mark! I hope you're both enjoying the heck out of your adventures. There has got to be some kind of scale at which your already spent trick no longer works. Can I trick myself to not fret over spending my retirement savings by considering it already spent the minute I earmarked those dollar amounts in 'the plan'? I wish that would work but I know I am going still have a hard time when the paycheck stops.

Hey Michael! I think our coverage is excellent but I'm only paying single rates AND signed up for the HDP...by design those premiums are lower. I wonder if the planning and comparisons should maybe all consider premiums PLUS deductible to get a clearer picture... You got me thinking.
