    • I retired this past June and may do something similar with the Washington Nationals. Not as many fans to greet as in 2019!

    • Great article! I'm a walker myself, but rarely find anything other than random pennies. I did have to use "Exit Fare" on the DC Metro about 2 months ago. When collecting my .50 in change from using a $1 bill to pay for the .50 lacking on my Metro Smart Card, I was surprised to discover over $6 in coins (mostly dollar coins) sitting in the change slot. It felt like winning a jackpot on a Vegas slot!

    • While it's true that the declining US birthrate is a big problem for our economic future, our experience will be different than Japan's for one large reason...immigration. Japan still refuses to open its doors more than crack. We have a LONG way to go in improving our immigration system, but we at least allow some (IMO too little) immigration.

    • I just retired from a 26 year career teaching High School Social Studies in a very large and well known suburban district outside Washington DC. The Social Studies Department in the school whwere I taught offers a one semester course in Personal Finance to Sophomores through Seniors. It is one of the most popular electives offered in the entire school. Kids rave about it. The course is not taught in every HS in our district, so the student member of our county's Board of Education fought to make Personal Finance a required elective. She unfortunately did not prevail, but she did open the eyes of the adult members of the BoE to the fact that our students WANT and DESERVE financial literacy. Thank you for providing that knowledge on a volunteer basis where you live!

    • Thanks for these easy to understand definitions of valuation methods, but I'll stick with my low cost index funds. 😀

    • Walking is awesome! I started doing "neighborhood walks" during the beginning of the Pandemic. Every other day or so I'd walk to a neighborhood near my home and simply meander down various streets looking at the architecture of the homes, etc. I'd then go online to find out more about the neighborhood I just walked through, often discovering very interesting information both current and historical. After covering all the neighborhoods close to my home, I started to drive to various neighborhoods beyond walking distance to my home and meandered through them. I've now covered quite a bit of my densely populated county and have learned a lot while getting good exercise. I've branched out into hiking which I've discovered is just as enjoyable. Definitely pay attention to footwear! It's well worth the extra money to purchase good well-fitting shoes for neighborhood walks and separate shoes for hiking. Both need to be regularly replaced to ensure both comfort and the health of your feet and legs. Walking shoes last about 500 miles so I replace mine every 4 months or so.
