Thanks, Rick. Given that many of us on HD are seniors I thought I would add the link to the draft of 1040-SR.

Thanks, Rick. I see there’s now a check box for QCDs. And if memory serves, Bill Perry said QCDs are also going to be indicated on 1099s from brokers. Those new additions, at least, are welcome.

Rick: thanks for sharing these forms. Any idea when this draft version will be replaced by the version that will be used for tax season?

Thanks. I like to “practice” on the draft forms to get prepared for the real deal.

Thanks Rick, I’ve been looking for this. The 1040 is as long probably as it’s ever been, and Schedule 1, which didn’t exist before 2017, is nearly 2 pages long. It looks like tax preparers don’t need to worry about extinction any time soon.

What? In 2018 Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the 1040 “will be a postcard, as we’ve promised, and hard-working taxpayers won’t have to spend as much time filling out their taxes.”

Thankfully we have 1040-SR for us senior citizens which has larger print. The tax software I have used in the past defaults to the 1040-SR if the taxpayer or spouse was age 65 or older. I did have to hunt for a while to override to use the default 1040.

Indeed, one beautiful piece of paper, LOL.
The senior version was already into a 3rd page, the changes might overflow to a 4th.
