humm, Your site was recommended on another site ( innovative income investors) and someone there suggested going to a site that Vanguard investors post on called Bogleheads. I'll take your suggestion as a second vote.
Hello Jonathan, I've spent several hours going over the website. Thank you for signing me up. I'm at the age I have neglected a lot of this planning. But now I'm at another stage in life.I see you have given a lot of common sense advice here for people on the road of life. Now as you are reaching the end of your journey you are chronicling events and reminiscing with sharing. I see others here doing the same. One thing I am having trouble finding an answer to and I assume you have addressed it in your life.
I am handling the retirement investments and my wife is handling the daily home finances. There is going to come a time I will not want to or cannot handle our asset management. My wife is completely ignorant of how to handle our investments and if it should fall on her, she would be a deer in the headlights.
I'm not even sure I am doing a proper job. But the accounts have grown and have been able to cover her withdrawals which are at about 3% of the total. She is 2-1/2 years away from having to start RMD's
Where on your website do you cover advice about having your assets managed? I fear a downturn in the market and want someone who plans for that.
Olin, I found two minor claims against the individual. In 2002 someone filed a claim for 5000.00 due to age and being put in an inappropriate investment it was denied. I don't know that many people who didn't lose money between 2000 and 2002. the other one, the client claimed forgery. He had a form allowing him to withdraw his fee from her account. She forgot to fill in the date so he did. Wasn't forgery, just a judgement error on his part and he settled for the amount he took for his fee of about 2,000.00 moral dot your eyes and cross your T's and fully review the paperwork and don't assume you really know the client.
Olin, I think this is what I am looking for. Problem is the business isn't quite what I thought. I am realizing I need to do more research to see what licenses and certifications they hold. I am having trouble doing that on line. Here is the link I found.
https://www.napfa.org/
Thanks Olin, Maybe I can find the company as listed under the person's name. I just have to go through all 39 pages to see if one seems familiar. The prior website I found listed them by business names and was a lot shorter list.
Jonathan, I have the same question as zestful. All I see at the right hand corner of the forum is a search bar. It says I am logged in and I want to ask the group about finding a web site I found and lost that was a .org non-profit listing fiduciary asset managers in different areas of the country and their ratings and if they had any complaints against them.
