That was a great segment. It covered everything my wife and I knew about “Insurance Company Advantage” programs and made me laugh at the same time. We are somewhat lucky in our health care planning. We just need enroll in our state’s retiree health plan and be on Part B. The state’s plan will cover that other 20% and reimburse us for the Part B costs.

We turned 65 this year and have been bombarded with Medicare Advantage solicitations. I thought once we’d enrolled in traditional Medicare, we were done, but now that it’s open enrollment period, here we go again.

I’ve been to doctors twice since July 1, when I started Medicare (with a “Medigap” supplement from my husband’s former employer). No co-pays! So far, so good. (Now, there’s ugly Aunt IRMAA in our lives, but that will become a lesser issue once my husband also retires.)
