Thank you for being a voice of reason. Your article clearly addresses the issues with Medicare Advantage plans. Not only does the plan limit access to doctors but physicians are starting to feel the effects of the increased paperwork for prior authorizations and will not take those plans, further limiting patient access. You would think the fact that a broker who “sells” a patient a Medicare Advantage plan gets hundreds of dollars where if they “sell” that same patient a Medigap plan they get around $50 would be a sign that something isn’t right.
I also have a little collection of hotel soaps. I grab the ones we opened and bring them home. I know the soaps will be thrown away so it’s an environmental thing for me.
Congratulations on your well thought out plan! When looking at medicare I would be very cautious about Medicare Advantage plans. IMO they are predatory and are a product to be sold and not “bought.” A person cannot revert to a supplemental plan once signed up for an Advantage plan and doctors are beginning to not take these advantage plans because of all the increased time/paperwork from prior authorizations. Advantage plans let the insurance company be another gatekeeper of your healthcare with record profits for them but limits healthcare options for patients.
