    • I taught high school marketing and business education classes in the late 70's and 80's. I used Hill's book to show students how becoming a 'glass half full' person will help them achieve almost anything. Thomas Edison was once asked why he continued to work on the incandescent bulb after failing over 200 times. He confidently responded that he now knew a couple hundred ways it can't be done so he must be closer to the answer. Dorothy could have saved herself a lot of trouble by simply giving up her shoes. But the burden of keeping them only continued to fuel her desire to get home.

    • Jonathan.......one of your best observations on retirement. So many retirees I know have a very difficult time feeling relevant after they leave the work place. It takes a willingness to reinvent yourself to find what will build your self esteem. I believe the key to feeling successful at being retired is to be grateful and practice acts of gratitude. Done often, it will change your entire perspective on life and make you a person people want to be around.

    • The Corvair was the only mass-produced automobile with a rear, air-cooled engine. In the late 1940's, American industrialist and entrepreneur Preston Tucker built 51 rear engine, air-cooled cars called the Tucker Torpedo. They were years ahead of their time. Tucker soon after ran into money problems and trouble with the SEC. In 1988, a movie starring Jeff Bridges titled: Tucker, The Man and His Dreams told of his life and inventions. My first car was a 1963 Corvair convertible. I'm the same age as you and I almost bought another one last year. Still looking. Buy the 1965 and write about 20 years from now!
