Doesn't necessarily tell you you have a bad cell or two in the battery. A load test is the only way to determine if the CCA (cold cranking amps) is adequate to turn the car engine over.

Jeff, I too keep cars until the wheels fall off and perform 100% of the maintenance on them. Google and U-tube is my friend, somebody out there in the world has seen and fixed what ever problem you have. Lesson learned, never reverse polarity on a car battery.you might be fortunate that the battery didn't explode when the parts kid did that..

Congratulations Rick & Vicky. Atleast you can't say you had paralysis due to anslysis. Making the decision to move into that next phase house closer to family is the absolutly the right thing to do.

Ken, Thankyou for your dedicated service with the U.S. military. Referring to #1, a friend of mine was telling me a story regarding the technology that the US military has had for some time that let's just say is not from this world. While in the Airforce as a pilot trainer, He has first hand knowledge of the transport vehicle and the flyers recovered from that crashed vehicle. He also said that the general public only sees the "B" team and we don't get to see the "A" team, but the other countries know what are capabilities really are. I know this sounds ridiculous, however just last month there was a senate hearing regarding this very same subject, that was reported that the U.S. gov't does in fact have in it's possession technology from "out of town"...I'm not sure what to believe as true...Perhaps the "out of town" technology might be the only deterrent we have left that keeps the nefarious rascals at bay.

Those engines have a non-interferince timing belt, so when the timing belt breaks you just pull the radiador fan and a few plastic covers and you replace it. Easy peazy.. owned 4 of those 240 tanks.. all 3 of my kids learned to drive and had a Volvo 240 in high school...

Rick, good article. I prefer cash when dealing with businesses that are mom and pop shops. I have to say it, it allows both of us to benifit in the transaction if you get my drift. The new digital dollar being implemented will squash those benifits for both parties. Which essentially eliminates any black market transactions. I think the digital dollar will incourage more bartering transactions. Necessity is the motherhood of invention.

Just yesterday, my wife and I picked up a pair of night stand tables she found on Facebook Market place from a young couple in Atlanta. Upon our greeting the young Atlanta couple through conversation the young lady selling them was moving from Atlanta to Boston to attend MIT for her MBA thus she was selling all her stuff. We congratulated her on her indevor to go to MIT and left after picking up the tables. While driving away my wife and I discussed why this young gal would not have considered the top rank Georgia State University in Atlanta which by the way was about walking distance from her condo.. Perhaps she did, but my guess was she was smitten with the idea that an MBA from MIT was worth its 10x value vs the costs for in state tuition to Georgia State Universitys MBA program. Perhaps she will learn that lesson getting her MBA while at MIT. In our opinion the "name brand" is not always the best deal for the money spent...

Adam, great explanation of the relationships between inflation and commodities. What would be your opinion on another Volker style interest rate adjustment to rein in inflation and how will the Fed afford those debt payments if a double digit interest rate is implemented? Hypothetically of course...

Rick. My hats off to both you and Vicky. I have to admire your and Vicky's dedication to both of your families. I knew Vicky was a Saint but didn't realize you were too. For those other HD readers I knew Rick and Vicky in high-school and through their college years, let's just say we had a beer or two together or maybe more, I can't remember. This was a true recap on your character and tells of Vicky's character too. I'm glad to have been friends with you and Vicky from way back when... I'm available for adoption if that is in the cards...

Good article John, the Fed has us in a catch 22 now and we the people will be paying the price of their poor economic decisions. Don't need a PhD in economics to see that...what a mess we are in...
