Work gives me purpose in life. I am a big fan of FI, just not FIRE. I would go nuts with FIRE. I enjoy working. It is unhealthy to have a perpetually stressful job…….. but it is also unhealthy to FIRE.
Humble dollar helped me stay the course during 2020 and 2022, amidst significant market volatility. It was easier between 2010-2019 to keep a level head when things were going relatively well…… It’s not the same with the 20+% drop and inflation. It’s surprises me to hear you say that was less readership this year. I would have expected more readership. I keep it simple and use only T-bills, VTI, VXUS, & VT.
I have several wonderful credit unions where I live. The companies treat their employees very well while providing excellent customer service. I have reservations about switching all of my finances to a credit union due to potentially more data security risk with a credit union vs a national large bank. If anyone has experience with this, I would appreciate feedback. The NCUA insurance does not concern me — I am referring to the risk of hackers, etc.
Paul, I love your podcasts and articles. They are some of the best! I have listened to so many of your podcasts, I can hear your voice talking when I read your articles LOL. Thank you for all you do!
Great post. The forecasters may have alternative motives as well. Like when Bill Ackman was shouting the sky is falling in 2020…. Later revealed he had lots of short positions. Vanguard’s forecasts are the best IMO because it gives statistical ranges.
