Thank you, your response is along the lines of what I'm thinking: TIPS ladder + VTWAX + cash. A couple of questions:
Why do you suggest an 18 year ladder? Is it because 18+82=100 or is there something else? I was thinking of a 30 year ladder.
What would you do after the ladder ends? Create a perpetual ladder by buying another TIPS every year, buying an annuity, or something else?
What Bernstein book would you recommend for me? Right now I'm primarily informed by "Pensionize Your Nest Egg" by Milevsky and "Spend 'Til the End" by Kotlikoff and Burns.
