In your Overtime Example 3, when a person has a total of $20,000 in OT and is paid overtime at 2x regular pay, it seems to me that the OT premium is $10,000. The person has $10,000 of regular pay and $10,000 of OT premium. Not the $5,000 that you show. Am I missing something?
Each CPA exam has about a 50% pass rate. I assume that means most people flunk an exam their first time, then get serious about studying and pass it the second time. I decided to study hard and try to pass each exam the first time around. I over-prepared. I got better than 90% on each of the first two exams, which meant I wanted to get at least 90% on the last two. So I kept up the studying, and was able to achieve that. Thus, I over prepared for all of them.
I believe repositioning cruises are always listed on the cruise line websites. We have always booked directly with the cruise line, but for those who use travel agents, I assume travel agents could find them easily.
Some people have preferences. We have been on Holland America, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Princess cruise lines and liked them all equally. Our first cruise, 30 years ago, was on Carnival. There was too much partying and drinking for us. One morning there was a guest passed out on the floor right in front of our door. We had to step over him to leave our room. I have no idea if they still have this, but back then they had one (coed) area that was "tops optional" for women who wanted more of a tan.

On the Alaska cruise, she was in her late 80s and the three of us booked a white-water rafting excursion. She loved it. She was also with us for the US Virgin Islands and the Grand Turk rental car adventures, and the repositioning cruise going across the Atlantic from New Orleans to Barcelona.
"Our Jeeps recorded some of the roads as having a 21-degree grade." If they went up 21 degrees for the horizontal length of a football field, they would be at the height of an 11-story building. I know they did not go up 21-degrees for long stretches, but still, that is STEEP.

I don't believe the two events are connected. The number of schools that participate has been slowly decreasing, which is too bad. The contest has been useful for teaching some lessons. Students seem to pay attention more when real money is involved. My guess - the sponsoring school decided they had better things to do with the money.
