Love it when you riff your checklists Jonathan ~ my left brain appreciates the tidiness and my right brain appreciates the content ... and the rest of me nods up and down. I just ordered the book and as always, thanks for your work.
I like the way JL Collins explains it...the largest companies in the S&P 500 (which is the bulk of VTI) are international by definition. Which is good enough for me, complements my other stuff, and keeps it awfully simple. But when in doubt, I'll always defer to Jonathan and his model portfolios.
hmmm, if this fellow can pick stocks then maybe I can too...? Nahhh, Last CO I bet on went from $3 to $60, I thought it would go higher...and now it's less than 3 bucks. I don't know their mgmt, I can't see their books, and then COVID hit and changed everything. Fortunately, I've been reading Jonathan for years and stick with things I can control: VTI at .03 expense, zero debt, specific insurance products, spend time with people I want to help, and take care of my health to enjoy it all. Thanks for the Teaser article Jonathan ~ but no FOMO here.
Jonathan,
I always enjoy your financial longevity checklists as I find myself going...check, check, hmmm, gotta take a look at that one. One topic I would add is lifestyle choices as it relates to personal health: am I getting enough rest, exercise, nutrition and community to keep my waist line in check, mobility sound and mental state keen? Personal financial capital can't be divorced from personal health capital as it seems obvious to me - we can't enjoy retirement pay if we're sick, broken or worse.
thank you
Frank
Jonathan,
My wife has another requirement for her long term funds: ESG. Is there a family of funds OR ETFs you like which provide low cost, broad diversification AND ESG consideration?
thank you
