Erik Soderborg with The Retirement Nerds channel on You Tube has just put out a very informative and detailed video on this subject (08/12/2026). If I understand correctly the advantage plans are largely replaced with other options but it just creates so much confusion and turmoil in the process.
Going forward I have concerns about the future availability and cost of medigap/supplement plans.
I have never given purchased cards to my grandchildren. As teenagers they still receive a handwritten card, and sometimes I will choose some special photos from my phone and print them on the card. So the card will have two 50 dollar bills and a 5 dollar bill, and the agreement is that one 50 dollar bill is to be saved and everything else can be spent. I always explained to them that I would rather include the extra five dollars in the gift than spend it on something that will end up in the trash.
