Please give 5th (maybe 3rd) grade level sign-in instructions for your site to me. I don’t seem to run into this with other sites so, please help an old Hoosier farmer out. Provide really simple step by step instructions for me. Thanks!

Well, hopefully Jonathan can clean my mess up when he gets the chance. Any time I try to include a link in a forum post something blows up. Now it looks like I might have two posts of the same article. Sorry for the confusion. No one is more confused than me.

Nothing is blowing up. If you include multiple hyperlinks in a piece, it gets sent for review. This helps prevent folks from posting inappropriate links to the site. Please show a little patience.

Sorry, my bad. I saw 404 error messages and misinterpreted what was happening. It won’t happen again.

The site is acting up again for me. I can comment on this post but can’t sign into other posts on HumbleDollar that I’d like to respond to nor submit a Forum post. Odd that the state of being “signed in” changes from one page to another. Refreshing the page makes no difference, neither does signing out of Chrome and coming back. Eventually, I expect it will heal itself like it has before.

Max, did you figure out how to log in. If so can you please tell by us. I’d like to submit an article but can’t figure out how to do it.

You can submit articles for the Forum via this page:

There’s a link to the above page at the very top of the main Forum page — it’s hard to miss!

Ed, did you try what worked for me below?

I write anything lengthy in Word and then cut and paste. It gives me a chance to check the Clements Elements of Style, and try to correct my many mistakes.

I’ve experienced problems as well, and have tried all the fixes suggested with no success. Than all of a sudden and for no obvious reason I’m back in.

I use Firefox and have found that after doing the Login, I must reload the page to see the comment box. You might try this….

I use Chrome almost exclusively, and sometimes I need to do this. And it always works. I think there is a time-limit logout embedded in code to kick off IP addresses every so often.

One thing I’ve noticed is the site can occasionally be quirky. Once in a great while I find I can’t comment on a particular piece because I (supposedly) am not logged in. Try as I might, my login isn’t accepted. Yet, if I move to another article, I’m already logged in and can comment again. When I go back to the original article, I’m still locked out. I think it’s a browser thing.

I experience the same issues and do the same as you do. Sometimes it will be hours before it will let me back in.

I have this issue too.

I find the site sometimes just reloads by itself. If I am writing a lengthy comment, I copy it at some point so if the site reloads on me I don’t lose much of my text and a just paste most back.

I find that if I take too long writing a comment the page refreshes and I lose it all. Now I save every few minutes, copy what I’ve written then rinse and repeat

When in doubt, hit refresh on the browser.

I do that, but it doesn’t always work.

I was having trouble logging in with Google until I deleted my google.com cookies and refreshed the page.
